Gwen Ruff


Gwen is a former trustee being proposed to return to the board, having served 2008-2016, including service as chair in 2013 and 2014.

Professionally, she serves as the SVP, Employee Services and Corporate Relations, for Columbus Water Works.  She has over 36 years of experience in the Human Resources and Public Administration field in the public, private and government sectors. As a member of the CWW Executive Management team, she is responsible for the senior-level management of the Water Works’ Human Resources programs; Corporate Relations, which includes the community communications and outreach programs; and as the Executive Champion for the CWW Employee Experience Strategic Initiative.

She has a BS in Biology from Mercer University, a Master’s of Science in Administration from Columbus State University, a Master’s of Strategic Studies from the Army War College, and is a 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Water and Wastewater Leadership Center. She is also life-certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Gwen served 30 years combined active duty and reserve duty in the United States Army in various senior leadership positions before retiring as a Colonel in 2011.

She is actively involved in numerous civic and professional organizations at both the local and national level, including the Lower Chattahoochee Workforce Development Board (Board of Directors);  The Columbus Museum (Trustee); The Coalition for Sound Growth Steering Committee; Pastoral Institute (Board of Directors); United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley (Board of Directors); MidTown, Inc. (Board of Directors); Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); and American Water Works Association (AWWA. She is a graduate of Leadership Columbus (1992) and Leadership Georgia (1999).
