    Need 1:  To secure an AmeriCorps member for one year
    To secure an AmeriCorps member for 40 hours per week for one year, beginning Sept. 2006.  Their role will be to recruit volunteers for Hands On Columbus (HOC), our 40+ partnering agencies and other local non-profits; to train project coordinators; and to strengthen the relationships that exist with partnering and referral non-profit agencies.  During their tenure, the AmeriCorps member will help HOC create a solid infrastructure for volunteer participation in the Chattahoochee Valley.

    Total Project Cost: $5,000

    Requested:  $5,000.  Any contribution toward that amount would be appreciated

    Need 2:  Computer Software
    To purchase updated computer software programs, including computer virus protection, for our office computers.  We can make this purchase through TechSoup, a company that makes software available to nonprofits at a greatly reduced rate.  Programs are Windows XP Professional upgrade; Office 2003 Professional; Windows 2000 Professional; and Norton Personal Firewall 2006 (5-user license).

    Total Project Cost: $125

    Need 3:  Emergency Kits for Seniors
    We are creating 150 Emergency Kits for seniors to be distributed in low income areas during Hands On Georgia Week, September 30 to October 7, 2006.  An insulated canvas-type bag will include:  a flashlight, batteries, a small first aid kit, Wet Ones, manual can opener, bottled water, and a whistle.  Other items may be added.  A small brochure with helpful hints for emergencies will be included.

    Total Project Cost: $1,500

    Requested:  $500.  Any contribution toward that amount would be appreciated
