The Sgt. Patrick Tainsh Memorial Books for Children Fund
Mission: Administered by the Community Foundation, the Tainsh Fund was established by the family of Sgt. Patrick S. Tainsh, who was killed serving his country in Iraq on February 11, 2004. In recognition of his love of children and books, Sgt. Tainsh’s Fund supports the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program, providing one free book a month for children in our community from birth until their fifth birthday. By promoting childhood literacy initiatives, the Fund supports preschool reading and parent involvement, helping children achieve success in education and in life.
Stated Goals: Currently more than 400 children are enrolled in the program. Funds will be used to enroll more children throughout MuscogeeCounty and to continue the involvement of these children through their fifth birthday.
